Road Signs and Lost Hopes

“On the road” is an expression with many meanings, but in my opinion, there is one that is the most important meaning of them all. “On the road” can be a trip or maybe can be something that is going right.

My image represents the past, the present and the future, because it leads us to one direction that can be wrong without turning back, it represents a choice that can put us in a bad situation, it can be one of our dreams that can be compromise, all of these can be without turning back.

All of these correspondents, give the direction that “road” is our life and we are “getting through” it without knowing out is “up ahead” and our own road can cross with other roads to aspects of love, friendship, and others.

Technology Task 2. - Photo Essay: On The Road...

Sri Meenakshi Temple,
Madurai, South India

The sculptured multicoloured statues in the gopurams

The Golden Lotus Tank (in Sri Meenakshi Temple)

This gopurams (typical trapezium shaped towers of the temples of south India) make part of the Sri Meenakshi Temple, in the city of Madurai (in the state of Tamil Nadu, South India). Madurai was born by chance due to divine means. Tells the story that one day Shiva was drying his hair there and dropped his nectar in the city impregnating it. And that's where the Madurai name came from: it derives from the word tamil madhuram which means "sweetness".
It was founded 2500 years ago as the capital of the ancient Pandya reign, which dominated all the central area in south India, in IV b.C. century. Though it was only in the XV and XVI centuries, during the glorious reigns of Vijayanagar and Nayak, that started an embellishment and amplification of a simple Pandya sanctuary, dedicated to the Hindu goddess Meenakshi and to the god Shiva. Later, the sanctuary was transformed in an assemblage of temples, which would constitute the greatest and the most sumptuous attraction of Madurai - The Sri Meenakshi Temple.
The Meenakshi Temple is constituted by 12 gopurams. The highest one has 49 metres. To enter in the sacred area, we have to enter in one of the gopurams. The whole area is enormous, it has 65000 metres square yard.
Just above our heads, in the gopurams outside walls, 35 millions of sculptured multicoloured statues look at us like they were alive!
I chose these images to represent "On The Road", because, dispite the fact of wanting to visit all of India, i believe these attractive images show the whole mysticism and greatness of India. All of these images contain a certain detailed aspect to them that make you wonder about the fascinating stories behind them. I love all it has to do with Hindu and Indian culture. It fascinates me!

Technology Task 2. - Photo Essay

I have seen a lot of pictures, but I think there's no other which can better describes the expression: On the Road.
When we travel, we always want to visit the most beautiful and interesting places which we have never seen before and where we don't mind to spend our money just to have the oportunity to be there for a few moments and come back home with thoose images in our head's or in our photo album.
That's my opinion..and that's why i found something magical on this photo, because it represents the beauty of nature. We can see the water falling and making a beautiful and agressive river between two mountains which are cover with green...green of the trees, green of the grass...We can see a blue sky too, without clouds, showing a lovely and clean day...and the most amaizing thing, a beautiful rainbow crossing the mountains and giving color and magic to the picture. This is a very strong picture, and where I can see our life represented on that river..running through the mountains, trying to continue his journey with all his strongness and vitality, like we have to do in our lifes.
I always fall in love to pictures which represent nature, because I think that is the most important and beautiful thing that the world can give us, and beasides, our life depend on many nature things, like water, trees, and green places like that one.
Who have never thought about being in a place like that? In my opinion, if paradise truly exists, it must be, for shure, a place like that...!

A little about myself...

Let's talk about me..As you know, my name is Catarina Raquel, but I prefer to be called as Raquel. I was born in Torres Novas, and I live in a town next to it called Entroncamento with my grandmother. I lived here all my life, but now that I’m studding in Lisbon I’m thinking about moving there, but I’m not sure about it yet…it's a big change and I must think about it carefully…besides, there’s some questions which may have some influence on it, and the people who got the opportunity to meet me better, know what I’m talking about:)I have a passion about sports, but I preferred a graduation about languages, because I hate mathematic, and in Portugal for you to graduate in Sport, you must have some subjects like mats, physic, biology, etc... Now, I’m trying to do my graduation, and than I will take a small course to be able do give some classes in a gym. I have done basketball, swimming, dance, hooky, skating, a lot of things, but I prefer fitness classes on the gym.I love music and I love to dance…In the past, my true passion was the Metal music, I was a fanatic… but wile I got older, I learn how to listen more music, different styles of music, and now I can hear a lot of thing’s… dance music like techno and house, it’s a style that came by with my passion about dancing, I love party’s, and dance all night long, but to hear good music at home, I prefer rock music, and to relax some R&B.I love tattoos and piercing, I got 2 tattoos, one with a family meaning and the other which represents music in my life. Piercing, I got 6, but I had 8.I could be talking about my self all day long, but I think that’s enough… to end, I consider myself as a friendly, fighter, and fun person, but I’m a little bit stubborn!I’m liking it in here… Big kisses
